Service Hours

Service is an essential component of the College's mission and practical ways are presented to facilitate student involvement. To this end, Lexington provides an environment in which participating in service opportunities are common.

The Service Hours program, through which students help with various College and community service projects, is one way the students can apply Lexington College's service philosophy. This program cultivates a spirit of service in each student. Current opportunities are posted on the bulletin board in the Student Commons.

Recently, Lexington students helped at the following events:

Collecting funds for Bears Care at a Chicago Bears football game.
Assisting with the silent auction at Lexington's Annual Fall Benefit.
Prepping food for "Girl Food," an annual fundraiser to help the homeless and hungry in Chicago.
Collecting food, clothing and gift items for an annual Christmas basket for Cathedral Shelter.

Feeding the Heart and Soul

Each year, Lexington students bake bread animals and deliver them to LaRabida Children's Hospital over Thanksgiving. This activity is always special for Lexington students and the families involved.

"Considering the children and families circumstances, we try to make it as special as we can for them. We want to make them happy and brighten up their holiday, and at the same time it makes us feel good too."

Building Scholarships for Service Benefit Dinner

Over 700 attended the event at the Chicago Marriott Downtown, honoring Jan Fields of McDonald's USA. Forty Lexington students served as volunteers at the event, running the silent auction, registration and the raffle. The event raised nearly half a million dollars in scholarship funds for Lexington students, the largest amount in the history of the College.
