| Lexington College
is a single-purpose college awarding a Bachelor of Applied Science
degree in Hospitality Management and an Associate of Applied
Science degree in Hospitality Management. The four concentrations
are: culinary arts, event planning, hotel/restaurant management
or health care & wellness. Lexington’s academic
year is divided into two semesters, spring and fall. Limited

The curriculum
offered at Lexington College prepares students for professional
careers in the hospitality industry. College courses foster
critical thinking, reasoning, intellectual curiosity, a knowledge
of culture, and an understanding of diversity. These courses
equip students with skills and ways of thinking that facilitate
life long learning and good habits of integrity and service
that will allow them to achieve in management and leadership
positions in their workplace and community.
Graduation requirements for Lexington College students include
the completion of two internships
for the bachelor’s degree and one internship for the
associate’s degree. In addition, a Graduation
Portfolio is submitted. Portions of the portfolio are
part of individual courses during the student’s academic
progress with the cumulative project due the last semester
before graduation.
There are multiple programs available to Lexington students
with the opportunity for a quality college experience. For
many students, financing a college education is a serious
concern. Lexington assists students by offering Lexington
College scholarships,
by administering any state and federal funds for which students
qualify, and by administering grants funded by industry and
professional organizations. Student loans are also available.
After enrolling at Lexington, some students find they need
additional help in their courses in order to achieve academic
success. Lexington makes tutoring
available for these students to provide them with the extra
push for success. And all Lexington students are invited to
participate in varied student life programs of extracurricular
activities.
Each Lexington student is required to maintain a cumulative
grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or above during her college
years. Lexington’s grade policies
clearly explain the value for each grade earned. Transfer
students are also required to hold a cumulative GPA of 2.0
or above upon enrolling at Lexington. Credits earned at another
accredited college or university will be evaluated at the
time of admissions. Lexington College accepts transfer
credit and evaluates each student’s transcript to
determine credit.
The Lexington College Library is
a rich resource for research, information for assigned projects,
and independent study both for faculty and students.
